I'm a black transgender girl (age 28 and passable but still concerned) and i will be visiting Minneapolis in less than two weeks. What area is best to get a hotel thats not to cheap but not to expensive? A nice safe area thats close to shopping and things to do. I've never been to Minneapolis but i heard that as a trans person i MAY like it. Also will the weather still be bad in a couple weeks? Roads drivable? Please help, I need to book a place as soon as possible. thanks

What do you want to do and see while you are here? What is your definition of 'cheap but not too expensive'?

Your question is too broad. I read through your previous posts...are you visiting as a tourist or under the realm of possibily living here.
If you’re looking for safe place to stay with shopping, of course there is Mall of America. But if your premise is visiting to see if you want to live here, there may be different neighborhoods to recommend depending on what you’re looking for.

I don't know the area well at all but I know there are a lot of affordable hotels around the MOA and they often have shuttles to the mall and the airport. Then you won't have to drive at least to those places. And it seems safe.

The weather will suck...sorry. Roads are almost always "drivable" like bumper cars are drivable. Just be really careful!

You might want to google some of your specifics about the trans community in MSP. I know there is a fairly sizable one and they might offer more advice on safety, community, etc.

MnMomma.....Thanks for responding. I'm interested in doing as much as i can considering it's snowing up there. I dont know if it'll still be snowing when I come but i'm hoping to not be stuck in my hotel the whole time because of weather. And i definitely want to visit Mall of America. As far as the hotel, Pricing between 75-100 is suitable for me.

Yes, I'm visiting to see if it is a place that i want live. I've had a layover in Minneapolis before but that's it. This was in the month of October and the view from the plane was Gorgeous! The tree's were changing to fall colors and all the lakes looked so relaxing. If I can deal with the winter, i know I would love the other seasons. But I need to start with getting a hotel thats not to far from shopping and amenities.

Thank You! I didn't know Weather to book on the North side or the south side. And i do like that there are hotels close by Mall of America but that may not be the only area I want to see.
