(BTW, an Iraqi colleague that I worked with overseas in a Muslim-majority country did just that: after trying to woo a local Muslim and failing, he went back to Iraq and married his first cousin.)

Word in the Somali community is that when she married the man who apparently is her brother -the one she divorced after having filed a joint tax return with the father of her three children, but not husband at the time- they were married by a Christian "reverend". An imam in the Somali community was asked about this and he stated something to the effect that if she had gone through a Muslim wedding they would have known it was her brother. The brother/husband is the man who called her new baby -the one she had with the father of her children- his niece. Hmm, my nieces are the children of my siblings.

Wow, but her life would make a great Netflix series, eh?

Tax fraud
Immigration fraud
Incest
Split up the Mynett marriage
Campaign finance violations
Spouting Anti-Semitic views
Dissing victims of 9/11
Supporting Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, and etc.

And on the political front, her accomplishments have been for her constituents ..... crickets.

These immigration issues have always happened and frankly not a big deal, if immigration services can't find issues then its game over and the people are approved, get over it. Try living outside your Minnesota bubble on the coasts and you will see people go marry those in their home country and come back all the time and no one cares, its acceptable. Even our presidents gramps did many questionable things immigration related as well but who cares.
Melania and her questionable work on her model visa, her chain migration of her parents, on and on, who cares, its like speeding, everyone does it and it and its not a big deal. Immigration cheating is basically known by INS and considered fairly minor unless the people have major criminal issues. Not to mention all these conspiracy theories about Illhan Omar are unproven and unfounded like most the right wings pizza gate uneducated nonsense. Ilhans actions have not matched your biased rhetoric towards her, she votes in line with mainstream democratic views.

I don’t care much about her personal issues and you’re right, immigration fraud is common in the Somali community.

In 2008, the Obama administration halted immigration under the Priority 3 family reunification program after finding through DNA tests that fewer than 20% of the applicants, primarily Somalis and Ethiopians, were actually related. I believe the program has been restarted but that DNA testing is now required.

I care more about her serial ethics violations and fraud, especially in campaign finance. She has been found to have improperly accepted speaking fees in violation of Minnesota House ethics rules, to have improperly spent campaign funds on personal travel and tax accounting expenses, and to have fraudulently filed joint tax returns with a someone to whom she was not married. These are documented violations.

What is troubling about her personal life is not that she has a boyfriend, but that he was hired by her campaign and paid in excess of $200,000, much of which was for travel with Omar herself. A complaint has been filed with the Federal Election Commission and, in due time, we will get the results of their investigation.

I don’t doubt that she will win re-election as the majority of MN CD-5 seems to be willing to overlook her serial dishonesty because they agree with her policies. I suspect that the only thing that could derail her is if someone with more intersectionality points ran against her in the primary next year. This could happen if she somehow becomes a liability to the DFL but, absent that, she will win re-election.

Many ethnic communities don't have such a restrictive view of what "family" is, so what Anglo people (whose forefathers came here and married indigenous women to gain land rights) view as "fraud" is just a conflicting view of what it means to be family. Perhaps if Anglos had a more expansive and inclusive view of family, they wouldn't be so prejudice and discriminatory, nor would they be facing worldwide population shortages. Imposing their myopic views on others who are mostly just living their lives as natural humans beings.

Since they are immigrating to the US, the definition of family under US law is all that counts.

You have to respect and abide by the laws of the country with jurisdiction.

If you visit Singapore, their definition of acceptable social behavior does not include chewing gum. That you might consider it acceptable is irrelevant.

If you disagree with US laws, you are free to work to change them.

A lot of Somalis are refugees who come from a country without a stable government. You think their primary thought when coming here is, "Let me become an expert in immigration law"? Most AMERICANS don't know their own legal system, so you expect someone who may have spent a good portion of their time in a refugee camp and might not speak the language to be able to understand??? That's ridiculous. The majority of these people are not looking to manipulate the system, unlike our immigrants of yesteryear who knew exactly what they were doing when they "befriended" the natives. Hypocrisy at its finest.

The truth is you have no way of knowing what thousands of people were thinking or what their intentions were. and it really doesn’t matter since the Obama administration changed the rules back in 2008.

Your opinion on this topic is pretty much irrelevant anyway since, unlike me, you cannot vote in Ilhan Omar’s district.

History shows me what their intentions were, and their descendants are infected with the same sickness. You guys are always playing a game of one-upmanship. "You can't vote so what you say doesn't matter. Neener neener neener!" Childish. But I expect nothing less from a group of people who have shown time and time again they don't know how to effectively run a nation.

You just love to put people in groups. Whatever.

Which is why they should accept the USA as-is since we have a stable government and a rule of law. When Omar began to disrespect the USA in speeches, that is what brought down criticism upon her, and rightfully so.

To sum up the September 11, 2001, attack by ISLAMIC terrorists as '"Somebody did something" and now we Muslims are the victims' was an egregious offense. And then she went and supported the four Somali boys who were going to join ISIS and fight Americans. And then she made anti-Semitic remarks. And disses white males. And on and on. The liberal media sure loves hearing her flap her lips.

But, of course, she is the darling of the liberal left who idiotically can't see that her belief system goes against just about everything the left holds near and dear. Islam isn't just a religion; it is an entire belief system that permeates every part of human life and culture. It is politics, sexuality, language, family life, relationships, and etc. Muslims don't treat religion like a slice of Sunday morning only.

So, treemoni, answer me one single question: What Muslim majority country holds dearly to your beloved liberal principles?

Indonesia was preparing to ban sex outside marriage - Is it Indonesia?
Malaysia puts homosexuals in jail for committing sodomy - Is it Malaysia?
Saudi Arabia didn't allow women to drive until recently. Women still must cover up in the street - Is it Arab Saudi?
Bangladesh?
Turkey?
Mali?
Nigeria?

Please, just name a single Muslim-majority country that you would gladly live in since the religion is so outstanding.
