Default St. Louis Park Neighborhoods

Hello,
We are considering a move to SLP and are wondering if people could fill us in on the different neighborhoods. We are really looking to find an area that has a great neighborhood community, kid friendly, safe and moderately priced. We just don't know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I've heard the area along Blake Road is to be avoided due to increasing crime - not anything close to inner-city levels or anything but its gotten worse. I suppose the standard caveats about commercial areas and highways apply as per normall.

Most of St. Louis Park is nice and plenty safe. Lots of parks, good schools, mostly very middle class. The neighborhoods east of 100 (closest the Minneapolis) are the most desirable and expensive, especially Fern Hill and Minnikada Vista. We live just west of 100 in the Birchwood neighborhood, and that's very nice. Housing gets newer and the neighborhoods feel more suburban as you move west.
