I'm not surprised. Idiots will tag anything. They're not smart enough to distinguish between a bathroom stall and an historical monument.

This news is a couple days old. I'm not happy about it to say the least. And to think southerners always get blamed for rekindling the civil war . The stuff happened 150 years ago why can't people let it go? They had to sink low enough to deface a monument dedicated to people that laid down their lives fighting for what the believed in. Shame on them. And of course it just had to be in my hometown, I would expect no less.

I'd be equally as angry if this was a monument for Union soldiers. The sad part is is that what the graffiti said showed how ignorant and misinformed the vandal(s) were.

You guys DO realize there is no Occupy Cape thing happening, right?
That being said, its a shame that ignorant idiots have defaced a historic marker, seems that people that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

THB, one thing I notice is the SEMissourian seems to be pro south. They seem to run more stories that are southernish, and the comments always seem to be pro south.

The SEmissourian seems the total opposite than the bankrupt Post Dispatch we have here in St. Louis.

The SEmissourian seems to lean southern compared to midwestern. Just their stories and that.

They're not really pro south in my opinion, I think they just tend to regionalize a bit more due to the Post Dispatch's influence in the Mississippi Hills Region and other areas in proximity to St. Louis. The online newspapers from Cape down to at least Blytheville Arkansas use the same style webpage, not sure if they're owned by the same company or not though . Not uncommon to see the same things discussed in the SE Missourian as the Sikeston Standard Democrat.
