I've lived in Seneca for the past four years and you're definately talking about this place. However, as said, it's really gone down hill. I understand in the mid-90s the city just started to deteriorate. There used to be like eight gas stations down town, a feed store, even a vacation spot right on the creek at one time. When we found the place it reminded me of Mayberry. I was taken! After moving here, though, it wasn't long before I realized it was a mistake. School is horrible, casino is just a big boil on the town (they're building a brand new, bigger casino up on the hill because they can't accomodate all the people coming to gamble). Drugs are an issue and no one really seems to have any dignity in the town. Not much to say about Seneca besides the fact that it has a lot of untapped potential.

If you're looking for a place in Southwest Missouri to live, you should look at Mount Vernon. Now, that's really a beautiful town. Right between Joplin and Springfield and just a real quaint, cozy town. Everytime I go through there I can't believe a town that size is as vibrant as it is, but can still keep it's small town charm. A lot of mom and pop places and very well manicured. Would be a great place to raise a family.
