Why Did it Have to be ... Guns?, by L. Neil Smith

ESSAY by LNS. Why did it have to be... guns?

You may be a perfectly responsible gun owner, and I support that. So if we assume that everyone is going to be just like you - a careful, well-trained gun owner then yes, we don't need laws. But is that the case? Hell no.

Think about all the morons behind the wheel of a car. Now consider how many more of them there would be if you didn't have to go through the licensing process. Questions as simple as "Can you read?" or "Are you blind?" would never be asked without regulation.

So the question isn't "Do you support gun control?" the question is "Do you support responsible gun ownership?" With or without laws, idiots will have guns. But with the law, that number is smaller. And that makes everyone safer.

Knowing Stokes is it possible that he did it or had it done? I wouldn't put it past him to do a stunt like this to stir up his 50 or so listeners and get in the paper.
I knew Stokes when I lived out there - what a jokester! Had everyone believing the rail siding had "black ops" jail cars waiting to be used - heh maybe for him? He managed to get Foxnoise to back his wacky concerns when before that he rallyed the troops against them.

I'm much more scared of/against white seperatist groups (and I'm as white as can be) than of some random mexican group in Montana. Maybe in L.A....but Montana?
