Me and my wife were thinking about making the move to montana my wife has always loved montana and wanted to live there we have a year old daughter and want to race her in a peaceful place. Montana is just so beautiful and me and my wife love the outdoors. I have worked in refiniries most of my life im sure they dont have much of that there but im open to any options. What kind of forestry jobs do the offer for a non college graduate or also what about the mining jobs. Which city do you think offers the most jobs in montana? We have been saving up lot of money over the past 4-5 years but i would still like to have a decent paying job.

It's a matter of opinion but I don't think you're going to find it all in one place. Billings is going to be the best place for jobs and has a fair cost of living, but Missoula and the Flathead have alot more things to do (once again, this is my opinion).
Check it out before you move. You will soon discover that MT varies greatly in culture, lifestyle, beliefs, and landscape.

I mostly just worried about landing a job first from all of your experiences living there is finding a job difficult as far as the things to do as long as im not super far although i would rather have lived around the missoula area. How is the cost of living and also like what are your main types of jobs there?

Refinery work
In fact we do have refineries here, in Billings and in Laurel. They are at the head of the Yellowstone pipeline. Cost of living in that area is more reasonable, and you are close to the country you would like to spend time in. Quite a lot of variation in housing, land, etc. for purchase also. Prevailing wind direction is west, so keep your living location in mind if you don't want to be bringing your work home with you, so to speak....

According to the paper Glacier National Park was just approved to hire a bunch of new people for road crews and such so you might want to look at the Forest service web site. It also looks as though the new "lifestyle center" is going to be built in Kalispell starting in a few months. It is expected to generate 1500+ construction jobs and last 18 months for the first phase. It's then expected to generate 1200 permanent jobs. It'll be interesting to see how this works out...
