We looked for at least 5 years for land inland from the coast far enough away to be affordable but not so far that we would be too warm. We looked from Carmel north. And ended up buying a home in a private community in Prunedale.. For now it’s perfect. Fog most mornings, but highs only in the 70’s. Heard that September and October will be warmer. I am OK with that.

Yesterday I drove the 68 from Monterey to Salinas....and it was stellar weather. I still want to explore land south of the 68....like off the Laureles Grade. Lots of expensive homes up there. We did look at land off San Benancio...but it was so very hot and dry....in fall. Not that we will have the energy to build late into our 60’s....but I can always dream.
