With SNC changing their name to AtkinsRéalis, they're committed to Montreal. They were supposed to move their HQ to London, however, reversed that decision.

One of the companies I helped expand here to Montreal, very happy to have Apex Group establish themselves in the city.

Apex Group opens Montreal office

Quote:
“Montreal continues to be home to the largest institutional asset managers in Canada, creating a growing demand for French-language service capabilities for both our clients and their investors,” added Krishnan.

1. Paper shed 106 jobs
2. SiloFit closed up shop, another promising start-up.
3. VC funding has been dry, Montreal led Canada in Q1, had a strong Q2, Q3 has been dead. It makes sense since there is a recession scare.
--

Paper shed another 87 jobs, which is unfortunate but makes sense considering their business model was focused too much on virtual learning. Same reasons for every layoff, restructuring/profit.

A decent amount of layoffs in the tech scene here, in the 500-750 range, but the good news out of this is since the city is an established tech hub, people will find jobs almost immediately, so I don't think we will see negative growth in overall job numbers.

Due to our current global situation and upcoming recession, there will most likely be a lot of hiring freezes and further delays of expansion plans. Expansions will still happen, but it will be slower until Q2 2024 if current projections stay the same.
