Given the time it was made (1930s) without the ability to use CGI, the cast headlined by Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh, the varied content, being that romance, drama, suspense, the historical and social issues presented and some action and war, and the cinematography as well as the famous theme song, while I could say other movies may have many of these elements, this one was probably the first of the major Hollywood epics that a large segment of the American people, as well as the world saw.
It is still talked about close to a century later, and the famous quote at the end by Rhett Butler: "Franky, Scarlett, I don't give a damn" has endured.
Over the years, many have tried to copy the style, and many have succeeded, but it started with Gone With The Wind.
