I don't want to say too much, because I don't know who has/hasn't seen the movie yet.
But I believe the 'Engineers' were created by yet another type of being, and who knows if there are other levels above that?

If you've seen Prometheus and had a lot of questions, read this.
Good link... there's a lot to take in from the article and commentary. The closest I can get is 'sacrifice of human good for the survival of capitalist evil'. Same as other Alien movies, and other artifacts of earth history.

Thanks for that link, I was familiar with what Prometheus, the mythical god was about, but seriously? Now now I doubt I will be revisiting or seeing the sequels.
Who am I kidding, I'll probably still want to look at the pretty moving pictures.
I asked people at work as we were eating lunch who was going and everyone said reviews are bad. My impression is that most of the people chiming in here liked it? Not sure whats going on.
I saw it this weekend and I loved it as expected, as did most of my friends that I watched it with. However, there were a few of my friends who did not like it, and they happen to be the ones who are big fans/followers of the Alien movie series...and the reason they did not like it was because their expectation was that this movie would be a pure Alien prequel and will answer all the unanswered questions they had in mind for years. However, while it is a prequel, the plot is mostly "stand-alone" and one should try to enjoy the movie on its own might instead of having their questions answered!! I saw it with an open mind so I liked it. People who were constantly comparing it to Aliens and looking for answers were disappointed. Their loss !! It's a fantastic movie!

I haven't seen it yet, but hope to soon. Most of my friends have seen it, and all gave it good review. Those professional review scores mean nothing to me. My peers have more in common with me then some yahoo I don't even know. I don't know why people even pay attention to 'professional' reviews.
Actually, I don't think a lot of people pay attention to "professional" reviews anymore. Lot of websites such as Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb, Yahoo etc. let their users rate them, which is relevant and useful because most users are ordinary viewers like you and me just looking to have a good time !!!

What do you know, just after I made the post two above, I got a call to go see it with a friend.
Wow..superb movie. It fully lived up to my expectations. It set up 'Alien' well; this is most definitely a prequel. The 3D was very well done. I answered a lot of questions, as well as made a few new ones. I'm curious to know if they have a sequel to this planned as it sets itself up for one with that ending. Will definitely see again, and really want to see the eventual director's cut.
