We already knew from the earlier trailer that Dave Bautista is playing a replicant in hiding. That becomes obvious when he shoves Gosling through a wall. We also see another copy of his type still in vitro as Jared Leto walks by the row of tanks.
The marketing for this movie is having the opposite intended effect on me. The more previews I see, the less I actually want to watch the movie. Another bad trailer, and I might just wait for the DVD.

Pretend it's not "Bladerunner."
Ever see the tv series "Total Recall 2070?" It was actually a decent series (ended too soon), as long as you didn't try to connect it any way with the "Total Recall" movie or "We Can Remember it for You Wholesale."
I ran across it while channel surfing and watch five minutes wondering how someone had produced a "Caves of Steel" program without me hearing of it.
But then it's just ______ 2049, and I might get confused.

I have never seen it, though I've heard good things about it. I've never been able to find it on DVD. I wouldn't worry too much about connecting it to the TOTAL RECALL movie. That's a fun movie, but nothing I feel any particular loyalty to. It was a step above THE RUNNING MAN but hardly in the same category as other movies from the era like BLADE RUNNER or PREDATOR or THE TERMINATOR movies.

What about the latest trailer turned you off? Looks like, well, more footage from Blade Runner 2049. Which is fine.
I see. There's always the danger of letting things get too big. Yes, Blade Runner's sparseness, its — dare I say? — intimacy was key.
