Huh? I thought they got rid of those things.

I dunno. I hope it's a great movie. I really do. Mamoa looks like the perfect casting for a character in dire need of a reboot.

But this trailer didn't impress me. More CGI overkill. Granted, the CGI looks gorgeous, but the trailer is still showing special effects over story. A special effect without a story isn't all that special.

You can't do a movie like Aquaman without some intense CGI happening. It's mostly set in the undersea kingdoms.

OTOH, you can do a film like Shazam! with its urban setting with much less CGI, and that's exactly what they've done.

I get that. CGI is mandatory for this movie. But I felt overloaded by the trailer. Lots of mayhem and action and spectacle, but in the only moment with any real emotional connection was the kids bullying Aquaboy. Give me more heart and less sea mayhem and quippy dialogue.

Battle Angel will go over about as well here as the Scarjo remake of Ghost in the Shell, and Ready Player One.

Bumblebee? Eh, don't feel any buzz for it.

There are probably all of two quips in that trailer, haha. The trailer's about 20 seconds too long. There's plenty of heart, but Wan should have snipped some of that big battle footage.
