1. Lawrence of Arabia
2. Casablanca
3. 12 Angry Men
4. Star Wars
5. Indiana Jones
6. Gladiator
6. Spirited Away
7. Jumanji (the original)
8. Hatari
9. Lord of the Rings
10. Untouchables

I can watch any of these movies almost anytime and enjoy them. But some are on the list for different reasons. Lawrence of Arabia, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, And Lord of the Rings all were quite influential in my life for various reasons. My interest in space, cosmology, and robotics stems a lot from Star Wars. The others led me to led a life of adventure and and being active in Boy Scouts. Spirited Away brought my interests to Asia and eventually China where I live part time and have a business. The others, Casablanca, 12 Angry Men, Gladiator, Hatari, And the Untouchables are movies I just really enjoy. Jumanji is a movie from my childhood and brings back all types of wonderful memories.

There are lots of excellent movies I left off this list, like Schindler’s List, for example. It’s an incredible movie and very powerful, but it’s not a favorite. It’s not a movie to hop on the couch and watch anytime.

Yes, in some ways I like Totoro more, but Spirited Away was the first Miyazaki movie I saw. We have a stuffed Totoro around somewhere.
