Variety’s reporting that Joaquin Phoenix is the frontrunner to star as the Clown Prince of Crime in director Todd Phillips’ as-yet-untitled Joker movie which would tell the story of the criminal’s early rise to power and be set outside of the same continuity in which all of DC’s other films take place.

I could not tolerate to watch Leto's version of Joker. Complete trash in my opinion.

I didn't like it much either, but I wouldn't blame Leto too much. The fault was in the script, not the performance.

I think the trailer was a tribute to Heath Ledger, who was born in Australia on April 4th. It was already the 4th in Australia when the trailer went up.

I'm not sure what to make of it, aside from typical acting talent from Phoenix, and Taxi Driver/King of Comedy parallels.
