OK, in my house October means horror movies all month! Anyone else get in the "spirit" by watching spooky flicks? What are your favorite Halloween movies? Night of the Living Dead has been a Halloween night tradition in my family since I was little and watched it while sorting my candy.

I was scared to death when I first saw Poltergeist...the thing that is so scary is that is doesn't take place in some old gothic mansion, but in a modern suburban house. So it felt like something like that could happen anywhere.

For scariness: The Shining (those twins!)

For tradition: Lady in White (when they were little, my kids and I always rented this, it's a fun ghost story/mystery and is scary without being terrifying)

For tradition AND scariness: The Changeling Based on a true story that happened in Denver

I noticed The Blair Witch Project is upcoming on a bunch of cable channels. That movie never ceases to scare the crap out of me!

Halloween, definitely. Halloween III if I want a good laugh along with being skeered.

I think this year I'm going to do J-Horror movies. their American counterparts suck compare to the originals (I still get creeped out by Ringu and I've seen it dozens of times already!).

other standbys:

Nightmare Before Christmas (I have "This Is Halloween" as my ringtone this month )

The Shining (may try to watch the SK version as well, but I love Jack Nicholson in this movie!)

Amittyville Horror

I seriously can never watch Blair Witch Project again.. first time I saw it was alone at 3 AM in my little house in the woods! I must have been nuts! I couldn't go outside after dark for days

Love the Halloween movies
