"Particle Fever," an excellent 2013 documentary about the construction of the Large Hadron Collider and the discover of the Higgs boson. Highly recommended if you have any interest in science!

Thanks for alerting me to that film, I'd never heard of it.
The synopsis is awesome, so I'll definitely watch-
"A photographer's obsessive pursuit of dark subject matter leads him into the path of a serial killer who stalks late night commuters, ultimately butchering them in the most gruesome ways imaginable."

Be prepared. Don't eat before watching. It's that gruesome.

Loved that film! And I'm not that into science.

I thought the film did a very good job of explaining the basics of particle physics simply enough that non-scientists could easily follow it and understand why confirming the existence of the Higgs boson was so important. They made what many people would think a boring subject very exciting!

Eraser (1996)

I love watching movies that are 20-30 years old and seeing familiar faces. This movie has John Slattery, of Mad Men fame. Also recognizable: Roma Maffia, whom I "know" from Nip/Tuck. And Robert Pastorelli, whom I remember from the Murphy Brown show and who had a role as the unkempt wagon driver in Dances with Wolves -- the one who sees the dead body shot with the Indian arrow and laughs that back east, some woman is saying, "Now, why don't he write?!"

Stunt that made me smirk: Arnold Schwarzenegger jumps out of an airplane and dives after a parachute that had been thrown out of the plane before he jumped. He catches the parachute and puts it on. While he's floating to the ground, the jetliner -- which has a blown engine -- circles around completely. The bad guy is in the cockpit, insisting that the pilot slam right into Arnie. Arnie whips out his gun and fires at the (tiny) windows of the airplane. His bullets destroy the windows and the pilot pulls up on the joystick, veering past Arnie (but sending Arnie tumbling in the powerful draft from the plane's passag and engines). And of course Arnie crashes to earth safely and lives to tell about it. So awesome. :-D
