What kind of music do you like?

I don't hate it because it's not music.

RocknRoll, Christian, Country, Instramental, pretty wide taste actually!

Don't why this always attributed to rap music. When I was teaching 85% of the kids were dressed like this and that ranged from the boys who rode in Ford trucks blasting All American Rejects, the boys on skate boards in their Tony Hawk jeans 3 sizes too big, the jocks with their long tees so you can't see how their basketball shorts are hanging off their behinds - and I taught at a school that's predominantly white. Besides not everyone in the rap community dresses that way - it's usually the commercial artist who are just pushing the stereotype. It's just a phase in fashion right now just like when I was growing up it was skin tight stonewashed jeans and sneakers that lite up - personally I hope it fades sooner rather than later.

You know I could stereotype each of those genres, right? It's 'instrumental', by the way.

You could, and I would probably be the exact combination of those four stereotypes, although now a days I am probably a little more country than rocknroll! Please do, I would be interested to hear you're stereotypes.

I'm not ignorant, so it's completely unnecessary for me to do that. But FYI, just because you fit a certain description doesn't mean you can or cannot listen to a certain type of music. I'm a suburban white kid, but that doesn't mean I have to listen to Dave Matthews instead of rap...

No one here is saying that you can't listen to anything. But why listen to rubbish when there is so much good music out there?

Me, my brother, and one of his friends (neither of us like rap at all) wrote a 4 minute rap song on his keyboard just as a joke. It literally took 2 hours to come up with the lyrics and record it. That is the first and last time we ever did that..... Ever since then I have seriously questioned the talent that goes into rapping.

Because an entire genre isn't 'rubbish'.

This is pretty easy to counter; the famous saying goes: It's easy to rap, but it's not easy to rap well.
