Did you see A.O.D. and the Undead and those bands?
A.O.D. seems familiar. There were so many. It seemed that there was a different one every night. All I know is that I didn't go in those places unless I had my big-a**ed stomping boots on. It was sheer mahyem and sweat.

Haha. When I went to punk shows, I usually rode the wall. I have an aversion to being punched, kicked, and mauled.
I have a distinct memory that I kinda wish I could erase:
Fugazi show 1988 - I was pretty young and small at the time. I decided to get close to the stage and before I knew it - the crowd was too thick to even move. So I spent the next 20 minutes or so (felt more like an hour) being moved around in the mass trying to avoid blows. A lot of that time was spent wedged in between other kids to the point that my feet left the ground a few times!
Here's the bad part: One of the guys right in front of me was a sweaty, shirtless behemoth. I spent most of those 20 minutes with my face smashed directly into his digusting sweaty back.
Ever since then - I avoid the pit.

I read they were the kings of Jersey hardcore,so I guess they must have played those basement bars.
Did you attend shows at A7 and 171A on Manhattan?
It seems shows at those places were a constant brawl.
For me it's the Ramones especially ever since i saw the movie Rock N Roll High as that was my kinda High School ; ...
Saw the Ramones at University of Maryland's Ritchie Colliseum during the early 80's. The show was advertised as "The Nation's Best Garage Band in the Area's Best Garage. Gabba Gabba Hey!
