She was my best friend, confidant and go-to gal. I taught her many things, many tricks and in exchange she taught me something invaluable - she taught me to love in a way no human could. Over the weekend she, my dog, died unexpectedly in my arms. This song came to mind as I held her - this is for Sydney. May everyone be so lucky to experience love like this in their lifetime.
I am so sorry to read about your loss. Beloved animals do teach us so many things we don't learn from humans. I hope it is of some comfort to you that Sydney spent the last moments of her life in YOUR arms. No one can take away your memories of her and what the two of you shared.

A few months back I posted this link as I know many people who best heal by listening to music. Music Can Help Heal: To Honor Holi, Stella and Itsy....We Loved Each of You and MISS YOU Each Day Both the song, "Shannon" by Henry Gross and the "Mother and Child Reunion," by Paul Simon,are in that thread, along with their history of each song. If it is of any comfort to you, I'd encourage you to listen, read the messages offered by others and add any songs you'd like to add (like Peter Gabriel's) or other music you have posted here to honor your relationship and love for Sydney. Also, if you are up to it, please feel free to write a new tribute to Sydney in that section.
Additionally, there are many wonderful tributes to pets in that section. No one worries about the appropriate presentation, or where someone lives, or the age/breed of a pet. Love is love and when someone is hurting, many try to help ease that hurting just a bit. A lot of people with totally opening arms, cyberhugs to spare and a willingness to listen and support you will be there to help you through this difficult time and others.
I want to emphasize again there are many different people who post in the Rainbow Bridge section, but to the best of my knowledge, I'm the first who posted using music. If that works for you, I would LOVE to have more posting some of their favorite music or tributes to their pets there. Not that those feelings can't be shared here too. Somedays, it's just nice to have a choice.
Let me end this by telling you again how very sorry Sydney died unexpectedly. I, too, have been through a sudden death of a pet, although I knew it would happen sometime, given her congenital heart defect. Regardless of how much I was prepared, when that moment arrived, I didn't want to believe it was true.
I hope the music, the links I've given you or any of the words written on the links, or here, help in some small way.. I hope tomorrow is a little easier than today was for you.
