Hi Sherri I'm from Phoenix and I'm loving every minute of this beachy lifestyle. I live in Carolina Forest in Myrtle Beach but if you want a smaller town and feel look at Murrels Inlet.

Hmmm, I know that there are a few lakes throughout the state that have houseboat communities. I cannot think of any full time houseboat communities along the ICW in the Murrells Inlet/Pawleys area. There may be some marinas in Georgetown that have people living on boats full time.

The Carolina Forest area and Socastee are the places for families. One drawback is the lack of employment especially in the professional area. Service industry jobs are plentiful. My daughter has relocated to Charleston as there are more office/professional type positions there. This may be something you would want to know.
