How is it going everyone, I have posted a question before here, but Id like to throw out a bit more general of one. I want to know what people think of it there in Myrtle Beach, the good the bad the ugly, and anything else. I will give a bit of background about me: I grew up in northwest Pennsylvania, and promptly moved to Hawaii after graduation and lived there for 15 years. I have moved to Florida to be closer to my mother after some family tragity, however Im not really finding work here. Im in the St pete/ Clearwater area, and im sure there are jobs here, so im not totally set on moving yet. Im a waiter/bartender and plan on getting myself back into school to make up for the many years of mistakes I have made. The reason I am considering going to Myrtle Beach is that the company I worked for in Hawaii has a location in Myrtle Beach, I have lots of time in and the company took care of me pretty darn well. So yeah please tell me all you think why you love it, or hate it. Is it safe? Is someone able to live there on a waiter/ student salary?
Thinking that unless you are older Myrtle Beach does not have that much going on. Have relatives there and they are not very active. I was considering it too but decided against it.
I guess it depends on what you mean by "older". I don't think I really agree with this statement. I think there's plenty to do here. There are 2 state parks, Broadway at the Beach, the ocean, of course. If you are looking for cultural activities - plays, the symphony or concerts, this definitely isn't it. I know plenty of people who are waitstaff and/or bartenders and I think they do ok, although all of them have roommates. I tend to go to places on the south end of the strand, in the Inlet or a few places on PI. Can't really speak about any of the bars or nightlife downtown, though 2001 usually has pretty good music and 3 separate dance floors/areas. Shagging is big all over, though especially so on the north end of town. If you're into that, I would suggest NMB or Cherry Grove as possibilities so you can hit the places on OD easily (Ducks, Fat Harolds). Anything else, just ask!
