I second all the other suggestions that have been said. Also:

The Bluebird Cafe

A drive down the Natchez Trace Parkway to Leiper's Fork.

Shopping in downtown Franklin.

(If you're in Franklin or Leiper's Fork, catch a show at Puckett's)

The Ryman Auditorium tour.

Visiting the atriums at Opryland.

Music City Roots

If you're up for a bit of a drive, the Jack Daniels Distillery Tour is always a hit.

I second that "50 is not dead". I turned 50 this year and husband is 48 and we are loving living outside of Nashville.

Let me add to the list of things we have done:

the Parthenon,

an event/show at Bridgestone Arena,

show at TPAC,

hang out around Vanderbilt restaurants, coffeeshops, shopping

Opryland Hotel,

Nash-Trash tour,

Farmer's Market,

walking tour around Broadway and to the Arcade

Nashville Zoo is nice

if you are on Facebook check out Nashville 365, they post an idea a day of things to do.

Heck, these might even be things that a 20 year old "kid" would like to do.

Since there's a pretty good amount of entertainment options listed, I'll toss out a few restaurant recommendations:

Rotiers or Elliston Place Soda Shop are both local institutions. They might enjoy Elliston Place since it's an authentic soda shop from back in the day. I prefer Rotier's anyday though: food is much better and so is the atmosphere I think. Arnold's Country Kitchen (http://www.jamesbeard.org/blog/index.php/2009/05/americas-classic-arnolds-country-kitchen/ - broken link) is a James Beard Award winning meat and three that has gained somewhat of a cult following locally. Personally, I prefer Dandgure's Cafeteria a few blocks away on Lafayette. For breakfast, the Pancake Pantry in Hillsboro Village is always popular. As I've said before on this forum...I'm not really sure why...I think it's overrated, but popular nonetheless.

If they enjoy spicy food, a pilgrimage to one of Nashville's Hot Chicken restaurants would be a must. Prince's is the king of hot chicken, but 400 Degrees' new location on 4th and Peabody (next to the new convention center they're building) is more pleasant.

For more upscale food, you might look at Germantown Cafe (http://www.germantowncafe.com/menu.php - broken link) or City House.

Hope that helps.

With so many home games, why not try a Predators hockey game? Park in the downtown Library lot & walk to the Arena. (Visit the library another day). Check out any music event at the Ryman. Best music venue in town can't be beat anywhere.

Stop at the Nashville visitor's bureau & gewt some discounts to the attractions already mentioned & a map if you don't know how to get there!
