me and my family are thinking about relocating to nashville from the chicago area. i've talked to a few ready mix concrete companies and it seems that they top out at $15.00 an hour for a ready mix driver. i guess my question is, is $15 p/hr good pay in nashville or should i look for other driving jobs?

does anyone know the pay scale for beer delivery drivers?...thanks, wayne

also my wife is a stay home mom who also watches a cpl of kids for extra money. is their a big demand for babysitters around hendersonville/old hickory area? if so does anyone know what she should charge? she'll be looking to watch maybe 2 full time kids.

$15/hr is probably middle of the road...I don't know exactly what drivers make, but you should probably look around to see what other jobs are paying. Perhaps consider driving a big rig? Nashville is full of logistics companies.

As for your wife and baby sitting, I'm not sure about Old Hickory, but I would assume Hendersonville has a demand for it....there are lots of young children in that town.

Wayne, I did a quick search of delivery driver jobs in the area.

Delivery Driver Jobs in Nashville, Tennessee | Monster.com

You might check into a few of these and see how much they pay and if it would be a good fit for you and your needs.

Good luck with the search, and don't hesitate to ask more questions!

as far as my wife goes we'll probably just put something out there on craigslist and see if she gets some replies but we'll wait to see what area we move to first.

I'd say $15/hour is pretty good for that type of job around here. I know truck drivers who run locally that don't make that. Unions aren't real popular here, so you may or may not have much luck there. I don't know if the concrete companies here are union.

okay cool..i wasn't really sure about the pay or unions. up here in chicago unions are very popular. i could do with or without them. i've never had to use my union. i'm not one to cause problems at work. i just go in and do my job. i'd really like to go back to a beer truck though, it's good steady work and an easy way to get to know a new area.

Tell your wife to check out sittercity's website, it's a pretty useful resource.
