I've flown out of Nashville three times in the last three months. I had to go through the imaging machine all three times (including just last week). Because I'm a tall guy, my arms typically extend beyond the bounds of the machine, so I also get wanded.

BNA is a great airport, imo. Very manageable size and very competent staff. The lines are typically short, but even when they are long, they move quickly and efficiently. (That's my experience, at least.)

I fly in and out a total of 6-8 times per year. Very efficient security. Nice airport which has been updated to include some fairly decent restaurant choices (long overdue). I find security more of a nuisance in general in the various cities I have flown into. 1.5 hours is recommended, and I usually make it 2, as I want breakfast before I fly out.

We love BNA. Easy to get to. Easy to park. Easy to get through.

Flew out of BNA last week on my way to LAX. Security was a nightmare! I was there over 2 hours ahead of my departure time, checked my bag and got right in the line for security. It took 1 hour and 45 min to get through the line. Matter of fact my flight was in the last stages of boarding by the time i got to my gate (and i went right through security without the machine or a pat down). People in the line were actively missing their flights and the BNA workers and TSA attendants were completely unsympathetic even though these people were at the airport within 2 hours before their scheduled departures. This was on a Wednesday (6/15) around 6PM and yes there were a few stragglers still making their way home from all the festivities of the previous weekend. It was just completely unorganized and WAY understaffed at the security checkpoint area.
But who would have thunk it....coming back to Nashville from LAX was a completely different story. The lines were long but they actually had LAX employees going through the lines pulling out people whose flights were boarding and sending them to a separate line. I was there WAY early for my flight and i think i ended up spending about 30 min total in the security line at LAX.
So, not sure if it was because there were still a few extra people trying to get home on Wednesday or just a complete failure to plan on BNA's side...but just be weary when flying out. Not sure if BNA has really figured out how to make their new system work smoothly.
