Hello Everyone,

I'm moving to Tennesse in a couple of month, I'll be working on a project in Gallatin, we are considering getting a rental in Bellevue, Nashville because of proximity to my kids school, the issue is the commute to Gallatin, how long should I expect, google maps says 1 hour +?

Gallatin is a really long way from Bellevue, but if you get up early enough and maybe find a talk radio show you like, it would be tolerable.

It would get old every single day, but I would rather live in Bellevue than Gallatin.

OMG!!!

Could you consider a rental in Hendersonville? Sumner county schools, shorter commute, more time with the family...

Well, then my wife will have to drive them to bellevue daily to school, its a private school they are going to, is it that bad if I live in bellevue and work in Gallatin?

It's just a really, really long commute. Lots of cities have them. It's not the worst commute in the area; that honor goes to anyone coming up I-24 from Murfreesboro.

Gallatin is not a suburb of Nashville. It is a small town that is about a half-hour on the other side of Nashville. It's not ideal by any means, but if you're committed to that school, it doesn't sound like you'll have a choice.

Like I said, I'd rather live in Bellevue.

but isn't it against rush hour traffic, I mean leaving Nashville in the morning and then coming back in the afternoon?

Kind of.

I'm not sure what you want us to say. Nashville traffic is bad all over, even in places and at times that don't make sense.

It's just going to be something you would have to deal with.

your best bet may be to pick a place halfway between the two like goodlettsville, joelton, or east nashville.

East Nashville would still be a long haul.

I agree with UnityJax, Hendersonville would be ideal. Or Mount Juliet.

Oh my goodness, as much as I like Mt Juliet I would never recommend someone live in Mt Juliet if their kids go to school in Bellevue. That would be an awful drive to and from school every day.

If the OP has to drive to Gallatin, and the kids have to drive to Bellevue, what about somewhere in the more rural part of Nashville along the NW quadrant of Briley Parkway? Is that area called Bordeaux? I'm thinking the area around Whites Creek Pike and Clarksville Pike.
