fossie - thanks for the great advice! the more i think about it, we probably do need an agent in each are to help us figure it out.

nbourbaki - wow!!! i just had small palpitations looking at that house....gorgeous. thank you so much. i think all my husband would need is to take one look at that basement & it'd be all over, it's his dream mancave!!! hopefully it will still be on the market come may.

Glad there are a few options coming from the folks here too (great suggestion nbourbaki). The Belmont neighborhood is a blast, and hopefully your initial trip will be the chance to drive these areas, maybe stop in on a few examples of what you have in mind, and spend some time seeing what Nashville has to offer as a whole to you and the family.

See you in May, and good luck with the business opportunities!

Cherokee Park a gorgeous community very near Hillsboro Village with beautiful old 4 squares and bungalows. There are tree lined sidewalks. Cherokee Crossing is a newer development in the area with historic replicas in your price range and walkability.

I love Hillsboro Village and with the development of 12 South, you would have shops, parks and restaurants to walk to in virtually every direction. Hillsboro Village is also very convenient to Music Row. in the 800k price point, you should easily be able to find something beautifully refinished and updated with the sq footage you are looking for.

A little further west is Greenhills. Most of the recent development has been in the form of new construction but you certainly can find 3000 sq ft in your price point. It's very convenient to downtown and there is lots of shopping etc.. When Greenhills was exploding years back, there was not the push for pedestrian friendly planning so I don't find it very walkable.

Best of luck, I hope you pick Nashville!
