So, I realize there have probably been a million and one food threads started here before, but I need some advice.

My brother and his wife are coming to town Friday afternoon, and I want to take them out to a nice restaurant with a good wine list for dinner. I was hoping it could be something unique to Nashville, or at the very least something that they won't be able to find in every other city across the country.

I've scanned through some old threads and come up with a small list of possibilities (places like the Hermitage, the Standard, etc.), but I wanted to ask you all specifically. I want this to be a nice restaurant, as mentioned before, but I'm also hoping I can find a place that isn't on the extreme side of the price scale.

So, with that, I'm open to suggestions!

Sperry's (Cool Springs or Belle Meade)
Saffire (Franklin)

Those would be my 2 suggestions...

Both of those will be $75-$100+ a couple just depending on what drinks you get and appetizer/dessert.

Sperry's always has a great wine list and it is pretty much a Nashville institution.

You might also consider City House. I've heard great things about it but have never been myself: CITY HOUSE Nashville*|*

Tayst in Hillsboro Village uses local ingredients and lists where the veggies and meat came from that day. They are also a certified green restaurant. It's a great choice.

Watermark in the Gulch is another good choice. They do southern with a gourmet twist.

I think Sunset Grill has one of the best wine lists in town. It's good but maybe not as uniquely Nashville as the first two.

What type of food are you looking for?
Sperry's is really more a steak house, albeit a good one, but if you're looking for something other than a steakhouse...Tayst as another said, F. Scott's in Green Hills and Flyte in the Gulch would also be good, as well as providing good variety on the menu.

I can second Flyte. The food is really good and the wine list is expansive. When we went they had different flights of wine to taste with the specials of the day and also several other flights just for kicks. Great place.

Duh...yeah Flyte is the place to go for a great wine list. Should've thought of that before.
