Can anyone give me some insight on the king streets neighborhood in Londonderry? Is the air traffic going into the airport a nuisance? Any neighborhood problems to be aware of?

Hi...I used to live in that neighborhood.

Biggest problem for us was the power going out.

Was the power especially unreliable compared to other parts of town? How long was your longest outage? How long was the average?

I wonder if the streams going through there ever flood peoples basements? I vowed after living in this house that I would never live in a house with a wet basement.

The longest was 5 days...after the infamous ice storm and second longest was 3-4 days after a wind storm the next year. Not fun.

We had a couple of spells where it went out for 4-6 hours also. It got to the point that when the weather forecast included mixed precipitation or wind, I'd feel dread.

We didn't have a generator, but most folks in NH do now. The ice strom was the last straw for a lot of people. I highly recommend getting one.

Concerning flooding, our basement only flooded once, and that was during the summer, after an extreme downpour. The power stayed on that time though!

Oh, and the only airport traffic was military planes on occasion. I guess they use a different flight path than commercial planes....They flew right over head. It wasn't a nuisance because it happened so rarely. Kind of cool actually.

BTW, you can't beat the central location of the Kings, especially the proximity to the schools. I certainly wouldn't sway you from moving there. Just buy a generator!

The Kings is one of the higher priced areas of L'derry. Very nice place to live I have been told. Airplane noise is only a problem in west and north L'Derry along or near High Range Road. The Road lines up with runway 35 at the airport.

The Kings is a popular neighborhood of single-family homes built in the 70s and 80s. You may see an occasional plane in holding pattern while awaiting landing instructions, but the north/south runway lines up with High Range & Harvey Roads, north of Shasta. Students at Londonderry Middle School get a great view of planes coming in for a landing Be aware that while this is a residential area, there is a bed & breakfast located within the neighborhood.

I agree that a generator is almost a must, anywhere in Londonderry. We have been particularly hard hit with extended power outages, since the ice storm in 2008.

Thanks everyone for the replies. There are at least 3 homes for sale in that neighborhood. Not sure if that is just coincidence or something else is up.

'Just wanted to add that not all of the homes are high priced.

I always told people that we lived in the ghetto section of the Kings.
