TOOTSIEWOOTSIE-i LOOKED AT THE TAX CHART YOU HAD BOOKMARKED. IT SHOWS
CHESTER, FOR EXAMPLE, THE TOTAL TAX RATE FOR THAT TOWN IS 18.22. EXCUSE MY STUPIDITY, BUT IS THAT FIGURED 18.22 PER $1000 ON YOUR PROPERTY?

Yes. You can always call or email the town in question for an updated tax rate.

This link will take you to the NH Gov site. Choose the town you want on the list, then click on "view HTML" (easier to view). It will give you all the statistical data you want for your town. On the left hand side, you'll see the heading for property taxes. It also has student enrollment numbers, average income, town depts, etc. It's been a valuable tool for me when searching for a town. yes and NH has a law that assessments must be at 100% fair market value

however, I've found that a home does not depreciate enough in a depressed market to drop the fair market value for town tax purposes.
