Itznin, were you at the food tasting yesterday? I was there with my husband and son. Some of the food offered was great while some were disappointing. My favorites were After Athens, Village Gourmet and Mignon. Mambo is supposed to be good too but they ran out of food twice and the lines got really bad.

JCgal1127, if you need someone to go with you next time, just me a holler. I just moved into town last year so am always looking to meet new friends.

I just made 2 offers on 2 different houses and both were accepted! We like the houses equally, they both have very unique pros and cons. The house in Nutley is on a very quiet street while the one in Rutherford is near to main street that's sort of busy, but not overly busy. Where would you buy? I work in near Penn Station in NYC, my husband works in jersey city, should the deciding factor be that Rutherford has a convenient train station? Taxes on both homes are about the same...Nutley home requires some cosmetic renovation and is already slightly higher in price (not by much, about 10,000 more). Rutherford home is more move in ready contingent on inspection of course...

Which town would you pick and why??

Thanks!

Rutherford gets my vote. Buy location, location, location... Not being partial living there 12 years. It has the best of all worlds and commuting is easier with bus lines and access to highways.

And good perk to point out about the cross honoring on HBLR from the regional month pass. To the OP, Rutherford is a pretty good sell in terms of easy-ish and more affordable commutes for you both!
Actually, it looks like it is cheaper to go directly into NYP regardless of how far you are from Manhattan, but that only works if the job is within walking distance of NYP. So if her job is in Chelsea, the Village, or Lower Manhattan, the PATH is the faster/cheaper option for her.

Yes I was there! I probably walked past you 500x because I was up and down the block a bunch of times...

Village Gourmet was my favorite, as I love their General Tso's chicken... The lemon chicken at Mignon was good as well.

Also the wings at Jim Dandy's were good but overall that place is terrible... I did hear they had good wings so I'm glad they had them out for sampling...

I'm not big on After Athens at all... Or Ero's Cafe for that matter (their service is absolutely awful)

Mambo is GREAT - Outside of the tasting because they kept running out of empanadas... The Tres Leche's cake there is the best ever. It's worth a trip just for that and tea/coffee if that is your thing.
