Video showing the famous people from New Jersey, high cost of living, high taxes, pollution, but Jersey still a great state to be part of, Jersey not only state with problems
... I hate to break this to you, but that stuff happens everywhere!
...And for all of the folks working at McDonalds who choose to whine about how they can't make it on minimum wage, here's a novel idea- go and improve yourself, and get a better job! I've tripled my salary in the last 6 years-nothing was handed to me- I learned and I earned, and now I can afford to stay here close to my family and friends.

That corruption "happens everywhere" should not excuse the apparrent apathy with which you consider - or rather don't consider - the festering cancer of a corrupt, out-of-control NJ government. Edmund Burke said "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." I would agree with an exception to the notion that "good men" would do nothing; doing nothing does not a good man or woman make. You excuse injustice and corruption because it "happens everywhere?" This reminds me of the thought processes of the elementary school children with whom I once worked. When asked why they did something wrong, they would reason that "Johnny did it too." Mr. Burke was quite prophetic and wise; evil is continuing to triumph right here in NJ, while men and women continue to do nothing. It continues to triumph in such oppressive injustices as outrageous and disproportionate property taxes, eminent domain abuses, and our state goverment is one of only a few that will not allow deductions for moving expenses or follow the IRS guidelines with respect to capital gains on the sale of a home.
As New Jersey residents, we are all serfs to their corrupt political fiefdom.
Finally - to borrow your billboard - "I hate to break this to you" - but not everyone is blessed with the appropriate mental, physical, and enrvironmental conditions that would enable them to "improve" their financial status beyond a McDonald's minimum wage. It is the height of arrogance and the most egregious form of apathy to suggest that because you have the great fortune of circumstances to be able to "triple your salary," that everyone else not as fortunate is undeserving of empathy or understanding. There are many of us who -despite hard work and tireless effort - remain living from paycheck to paycheck (if we are fortunate enough even for that). Some have been touched by a simple twist of fate - be it a life-threatening illness, a lack of health insurance, a disability, divorce, death, - that leave little hope of being able to "improve" their minimum or meager wages. Your elitist attitude along with your apathy toward corrupt politics helps what is terribly wrong about New Jersey to continue.
One final comment: I find that those who will label the free speech and vocal objections of others as "whining," usually do so to avoid the bothersome task of thinking beyond their own limited and very narrow perspectives.
Well sorry to say but that has already happened..it is because of NJ ppl coming here in droves and thinking $40,000 was so cheap for a lot and buying 10 at a time, it caused the lot prices to triple...and there are alot of ghettos caused directly by NJ and NY ppl....Places like Riviera Beach and West Palm beach just to name 2 are pretty much ruined...

Thank you for saying that. There are so many people on here with negative attitudes and saying bad things about NJ. The same people have been contradicting themselves over and over. They have moved to another state and then bash NJ as if they were above everyone in NJ with an elitist attitude. Meanwhile have done nothing to make the state better themselves but leave. It's easy to bash the state and try to make people feel bad for staying that may have to or just love it here. Let people live wherever it is that makes them happy and leave them alone. If the people that have bad things to say, have to put their two cents in, then why not give some helpful advice instead of negative comments.
Well I have something nice to say about NJ. When I graduated High School in California..a friend and I decided we were going to go to New York to be nannys for a year before we settled down for the college years. Just for fun. Hey we didn't have to pay rent, and everything we made was fun money!! Well we ended up getting jobs in New Jersey. I was in Woodcliff Lake she was in Franklin Lakes. Well I thought it was beautiful there. Especially the fall. We use to love driving the winding roads amongst all the yellow and orange trees. The people we worked for were great people who showed us around NYC, etc. in our off time. So glad I got to see the World Trade Center
now. One thing I love about the East coast is that you can be in so many different states in such a short period of time. We went to Boston, Washington DC, (loved Georgetown!!),Virginia, etc. What an experience . Anyway..getting off topic......just wanted to say I think the state of NJ is beautiful. Every state has it's problems.
So we should all bow down and let corruption take over? There is corruption in CT, so let NJ go to hell? I don't think that is a very proactive answer here.
Let me just say that the rich people in this country have 99% of the power and they DEPEND on the middle class becoming passive and nonchalant of the corruption and waste that surrounds us. Because the rich line the other rich people's pockets and laugh all the way to the bank. Look at halliburton. Their truck drivers making 6 figures while the american troops with the guns escorting them through Iraq are making 20K. Then they come back and charge the DOD something like 3 bucks a gallon for gas! If that does not boil your blood I don't know what will!
Look at dear MA and the "big dig". Now if that project ain't a complete fubar of the public $$ than I don't know what is! And then some poor woman loses her life because someone let substandard concrete be used in the ceiling...
Stop defending NJ, stop pointing the finger at other states and comparing woes. NJ's problems affect the entire country, no one state is an island.
And risking riling the feathers again: Get out the vote this year! Last election time has some really pathetic voter turnout...gotta get the country involved again so elected officials have just a little respect for the American voter again. We've got less than a month till election day

Amen! Well spoken. Glad to hear someone who is aware and on top of things. Wish more of you would surface before the country continues its downward slide.
