If you search for ROOMS for rent instead of APARTMENTS for rent (i.e., you are willing to live with 2 or 3 or 4 roommates in a multi-bedroom apartment or house), you will have plenty of options in the $1000/month range in Morristown proper, as well as the surrounding towns.

What in the heck does this have to do with apartments?

It's a pricey area unfortunately. Parsippany may have something more affordable.

You just need a time machine, I llived in a rented 2 story house near Burnham park back in the mid70'2 it was like $250 to $500 a month for the whole house which we split with a hew guys and gals. Back then the whole place was for sale for about $50K and no one was buying.

I'd say try craigslist, you might get lucky.I know heading out of Morristown by speedwell ave or out sussex turnpike there's some cheaper places.Honestly , I'm not sure what the allure is to Morristown, over priced yuppyville lol. When I was younger, I would go there to hit up the bars and meet girls, it was fun for a while until Morristown reinvented itself as the new swanky soho of North Jersey. Those same bars I enjoyed in my youth changed into high end dress codes, overpriced craft beer and mixed drinks, a new young successful elite crowd and personally it wasn't for me. This area has gone so high rent , it's priced out a lot of its former residents.I don't get what the draw is, getting less for more vs more for less, unless it's for a job, in that case you could do better in one of the surrounding towns.
