You just did an excellent job demonstrating why this bill was passed.
Because bigots like you think homosexuality is a MENTAL ILLNESS, i.e., it should and can be treated, and/or it can be prayed away. Meaning, gay people should be converted, i.e., eradicated. Or, Don't Ask, Don't Tell, they should all live in fear, and in hiding, and in secrecy.
Second, like others have already stated, this will be a minor blip on the curriculum. Even less of a minor blip than Black History. The objective is to teach inclusivity and tolerance. Nobody is force feeding gay cooties on anyone, so you can relax your sphincter. No kid is going to want to turn gay, because of LGBT History lessons, anymore than they are going to want to turn Black because of Black History lessons.
Third, there are people on this forum who think Black History month is a divisive liberal agenda and conspiracy. There are people here who think the whole concept of Black History is racist. Even further, people here have posted under troll accounts to opine that black people are inherently inferior based on brain structure and scientific evidence they found in neo-nazi literature. (Come on guys...which one of you was 'OceanJ'?)
Homosexuality is a sexual preference...no different than being sexually attracted to the opposite sex or an animal or a child.
I think the mental illness they're referring to is transgenderism, which is so dramatically different that there's no reason to include that in with LGB except to try to normalize mental illness.
It's a waste of tax payer money because Indians and overseas students beat our student in STEM because their schools specializes in STEM courses while we're wasting time and money forcing our kids on studies that won't make them competitive.
Clearly they were a joke because they're much worse off than NJ. So not only will NJ students most likely do better in school, they'll also better understand history. So, I'm assuming your reference to "alternative lifestyles" means they don't teach you history in Georgia. Or, rather, they teach you alternate histories. As in how the Civil War wasn't fought over slavery; socialism, fascism, and communism are the same political theories; the slave trade was just a casual economic "Trans-Atlantic" trade; Jesus lived with dinosaurs; etc. Because that is an alternate lifestyle. A lifestyle is a choice. It is the South's choice to be ignorant and deny science and history. That's the only "lifestyle" choice I can think of in regards to education: ignorance and misinformation passed down generation after generation in the South.
You know exactly what I mean- that gay and transexual nonsense. I've said all I'm going to. If you want to be "right"- have at it. I'd rather have poor public schools- which all states have now, than teach immoral behavior to children.

Ok have fun in a state full of stupid and ignorant bigots. Why are you even bothering to be in a thread in the NJ subforum when you live in a backwards state that rewrites history to uphold white supremacy? The only "immoral" behavior that should not be taught to children is to be a hate-filled bigot. There's nothing "moral" about hating your fellow citizens for the way they were born.

Unfortunately, that's also part of history that should be taught. People take their personal feelings and prejudices and bolster them by attaching to and/or interpreting a religious belief that coincidentally agrees with their perspectives. We see this behavior throughout history, and it likely goes back to Gronk claiming that the Bear God told him it was OK to kill Bronk and take his cave because Bronk had different color eyes.
Ecclesiastes 1:9, “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.”

With that type of excellent insight, you should be the moderator of the Religion and Spirituality Forum!
Then why are NJ, NY and other people in northeastern states moving South in droves?
Because the south has cheap housing and taxes, but that also figures into the lower quality schools, so I guess people make their choices based on what means the most to them. Of course, a lot of those people relocating are retirees, so the schools don't matter.
We've still got nine million people here, so the "droves" aren't quite as drovish as some would make it sound.
