Thanks, kids! I just came back upstairs from my nightly shooting the poop with my doorman, and like always, we usually have a smoke, but not tonight. I stood there and chewed gum and brought a bottle of water with me.

I did break down and buy those Commit lozenges tonight to take the edge off. So far so good. NJ won't be getting more tax money from me now!

Great for you!! I'm happy for you. Stay committed to it and don't become one of those annoying former smokers..... They are so much worse than someone that has never smoked a day in their life!! Just kidding.

Seriously, stay on track and you are on your way to a healthier you!! Best of luck and congratulations!

Any ex-smokers in here have words of wisdom on how you adjusted?
Good luck.
I've been in the hospital 3 times in the last few years, each time lighting up when I get out.

I had a tooth pulled Monday, my sinus is a bit exposed smoking wasn't happening. Well yesterday I was able to.

I'll quit, sometime after the holiday.
I'm almost ready but not quite.

We get ours from Delaware, a lot cheaper then NJ

Good luck! I quit 14 months ago using Chantix. The side effects were annoying, but I gave up the medicine at 9 weeks and haven't cheated at all. There are times I would LOVE a smoke, but I don't want to deal with the quiting again. The only suggestion I have is you can't have any! Not One Puff!

When the urge strikes, get busy! Get up and get moving. Using Chantix the urge only lasted 2 minutes.

My confession is I still love to smell second hand smoke!

Wow Good luck. Congrats on quitting.

WOW-$7.75 a pack-I remember in the 1970's and early 1980's when I would run in 7-11 and get my mom's smokes for her and they were 60 cents a pack.

That's one thing I can honestly say I never started, nor had the inkling to start. My old upstairs neighbors in Old Bridge quit once the price got too out of control. Both of them just went cold turkey years ago.

Thank God I never started. I gravitated to the one form that had a much "higher" benefit for a time when I was much younger, but even that never turned into cigarette smoking. There just seems to be absolutely no benefit from it.

I quit in April 2007... I still want one some times but I feel 10000 times better as a nonsmoker. I was a complete and utter jerk for about 4-6 weeks when I quit (God bless my wife for not killing me). Best advice... stay away from other smokers. It's too tempting. It is well worth it. GOOD LUCK!!!
