This is so weird. My husband and I are planning to go there on the same weekend. We wanted to stay at a nice new hotel/casino. It was looking like right around $800 for 2 nights (Friday/saturday). We went to MEXICO for our honeymoon for an entire week and the package was only $2,000 including hotel and airfare!
Food & drink as well???? That's about what we paid in May for a week in Cabo....
It might be cheaper to fly to Vegas for the weekend
Fly out to vegas, Nj is corrupt and they will keep ripping you off. Atlantic city is a DUMP! I walked a block off the boardwalk and crack heads and crazy people were just wandering around the streets like a zombie. Save your money... AC is a dump that think its still as good as it was in the 50's.
PASS. The new express train is also a joke, from nyc to philly and then AC? PASS. We even tried to be smart about it and stay out of the city at Absecon and that is also a rip off 150 for a 1 bedroom no name indian owned hotel???
Go to vegas, someone on the slickdeals forum posted a bunch of coupons and deals to restaurants and comps as well.

It was around $2k for all inclusive on the Myan Riviera. Same time (we got married Sept 27th) The only extra $$ we spent was on Spa treatments, eating off the resort one time and an ATV trip. It was great!

Just checked Expedia- you could fly out Friday night and back Sunday night and stay at the MGM for two nights, all for around $600 per person. That's more than $700, but you get to go to Vegas instead of AC, which is a dump by comparison.
Agreed, I took my wife to AC for our 1 year anniversary and we high tailed it outa there the same night we came in. The boardwalk is TRASH, I thought it would be elegant with fine dining. Instead it was crud pizza shops and other small time shops like palm reading garbage. The casino restaurants sucked!! The clubs were laughable, the only decent place was borgata but that is far off from the boardwalk and the beaches looked so dirty. Across the street we went to an Indian restaurant and it was AWFUL, it looked like someone's kitchen rather than a restaurant. The only decent thing was PF chang which is already local to us in North Jersey. I'm NEVER going back to AC what a load of trash. I remember articles 3-4 years ago saying its the next Vegas, they must be nuts. Its just a giant casino trap surround by poor poverty stricken people across the street in the back and a lousy boardwalk and ocean in the front.
I wonder what the rate is these days down in Biloxi/Gulf Shores? I am sure they are probably also attempting to offload cheap rooms, especially in wake of Katrina. Plus, you get a beautiful beach to boot.
It's too bad that the two new casinos in PA (Sands in Bethlehem and Mt. Airy in the Poconos) don't have any table games, or they would be a good alternative to AC.

Agree, AC is pretty rundown and boring. I went there once about 3 years ago just to see what I might be missing, never went back.

haha this is why people should listen to me instead of people that have some kind of personal stake in the city and hate it when anyone says anything but praise. i am always honest, and i live a life that any of you would only dream of living. so when i recommend things, you should take my word for it that its a solid recommendation.
i plan to spend the upcoming weekend in AC. i will probably not leave Borgata grounds the entire time im there. rooms in AC are going to be very expensive on the weekends all year round. they have the nightlife. they have tons of babes going there for bachelorette parties. its a great time.
