Take this with a grain of salt as it's based on self-reported municipal figures. For example, Elizabeth, whose mayor claims there are no gangs in the city (), chose to not report stats. That tells me a lot. Essentially, I would venture to guess that in at least some municipalities, the stats are underreported or tweaked in a positive manner. But it gives you a good idea of the prevalence of gangs.

NJ has a presence of all major gangs - Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings, MS-13. Certain gangs are more prevalent in certain areas, but I believe the largest gang in NJ with the most members are the Bloods. MS-13 are generally the most violent.
