From OP's link, 5th paragraph down.

2 years? I'm pretty sure there will be another hike before then.

Personally this is crazy. I can understand a fare increase but hell 25% especially when you are also paying to ride MTA in NY.

Basically the only choice now is pay the raise, gripe and deal with overcrowded old buses that break down or sometimes never show, or start driving and gripe about the condition of roadways and traffic.

Personally I would like a 25% increase in my paycheck but hell that probably won't happen.

Mine jumps from $246 to $308, and that just gets me to Hoboken, then I take PATH, which is about another $52 a month.

Could use NJ Transit all the way to NY Penn and it would take the same amount of time to get to my office, but it's more expensive that way.

Unfortunately that's the truth another truth is NJ Transit fares have not had a major increase in years & years

I see gas going beyond $3 a gallon this summer....I also must pay NJ's high insurance rate and tolls on some roads..it is what it is

I guess it depends upon how you define "major". The 2007 increase was about 10%. Next to 25% it does look minor.

I totally agree. Reps to you!

Really? Because I remember a significant hike (I want to say 10%?) just a few years ago. Purportedly to account for increased security measures needed post 9/11. Of course have yet to actually see one increased security measure.

Airlines have reason to--they did increase security measures (although I agree it wasn't exactly proportional). Have you seen any increaased security?? And did Metronorth, LIRR do the same 10% in 2007? Notice how LIRR/Metro North are not inreasing fares due to "low ridership" which NJ is claiming as one of their excuses.

My point is your comment that no fare increase for "years and years" is not an accurate statement. The fare increases are not in line with inflation by a long shot.
