I do not consider her weird at all.

I don't anything about Diane Denish except what I read about her in the newspaper, so I do not know if she is weird or not.

I have a post two above the one you quoted that spells out my questions about Martinez. If you want to read that and discuss it with me I would be happy to do that. You might also want to read some of my posts on her position on tax lightning if you have not already.

I am glad that you have met with her. My desire to have go see her in person met with disappointment. Maybe you will be able to explain that to me. And a coherent explanation of her position on tax lightning would really be appreciated. I pay a higher property tax than A because he came here earlier than me and I pay a higher property tax than B because he came here later than me. Susana in Wonderland.

My questions about Denish relate to her failure to distance herself from Richardson and that is also explained in greater detail a few posts up. I would also be happy to discuss that.

can you explain tax lightning in a nut shell? I just don't know what to make of it reading all the technical jargon. Is it just that the property tax is capped while you own the home, but the tax accumulates and is passed on to the next owner who has to pay a higher tax?

I have a question for those who are chummy with Susana Martinez: what is her relationship with the "Tea Party"? Does she support the "Tea Party", and does the "Tea Party" support her? I know she has the endorsement of Sarah Palin (Mama Grizzly and Tea Partier extraordinaire), an association I find far more troubling than Denish's association with Richardson.

I have a question for those who support Diane Denish: what is her association with socialism, and the socialist party? Does she believe the Karl Marx tenant of "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"? She has the endorsement of Nancy Pelosi, who has been associated with Cindy Sheehan

who, in turn, has been associated with Hugo Chavez.

I would rather be associated with Sarah Palin.

None. She's far from socialist. In fact, most American politicians aren't anywhere close to socialist. That word gets thrown about so much as a scare tactic. And socialism can mean anything having to do with the government providing a service... based on that, our country has been socialist since 1867 when the African Slaves Reparations Bill was passed(Or even earlier still). Socialist would also include Social Security, Education, Police and Fire services, etc.. Under this definition, both Martinez and Denish are Socialists.

Sarah Palin, a woman that quit her job as governor to bank it, letting down the very people she was supposed to support? Martinez got an endorsement from someone who let down Alaskans and members of her own party. I would try and distance myself from her.

As far as Tea Party... It's hard to group them all together as a homogenous group. However, Martinez got a lot of support from this group, and they're pretty much the reason she beat out Weh.

I know Susana Martinez through the Republican Party only, so I do not know her relationship to any of the tea party organizations in the state.

My husband and I are very active in the Santa Fe Tea Party, but our tea party group does not endorse candidates. We work for any candidates we support only through their organizations or the political parties they belong to ... and as individuals, not as tea party members.

Perhaps other tea parties may be different than ours.

Here is a clip of Gary Johnson explaining why he doesn't endorse Susana Martinez (not yet, anyway):

Gary Johnson withholds support for Susana Martinez

Does anyone know if he has changed his tune since this interview?

I know Martinez has Palin's endorsement and is endorsed by some police agencies. I had a hard time finding a list of her endorsements on her website.

Meanwhile here's a partial list of Denish's endorsements:

All-Indian Pueblo Council

* American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)

* American Federation of Teachers

* Animal Protection Voters

* Conservation Voters New Mexico

* Eastern Navajo Agency Council

* Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Council

* Emily's List

* International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Locals 480 and 423

* International Association of Fire Fighters--Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters Local 244

* National Education Association (NEA) of New Mexico

* New Mexico Professional Fire Fighters Association

* Northern Navajo Agency Council

* Ohkay Owingeh

* Pojoaque

* Pueblo of Jemez

* Sandia Pueblo

* Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters

* Women's Campaign Forum (http://wcfonline.org/sites/wcf/ - broken link)

Sort of. The assessment (not the tax rate) is capped at 3% annually. The actual tax could go up faster if say your city council raised the rate.

You sell the house the cap is off and your assessment supposed reflects actual value. Then your assessment is for the future capped at 3% annually. Because of rapid increases in actual value of homes this can result in a tax 2-3-4 times higher.

Martinez's proposal is to end tax lightning for the future, but everyone who bought in the period 2001 to say 2011 will be stuck with the higher tax until they sell their home -- at a discount price because it has higher taxes. For those who have already been hit by tax lightning or who buy in the next year or so -- this is a disaster.
