I think if you're looking for a friendly small town and never treated like an outsider you should check out Magdalena. It's a short trip to Socorro,an easy trip to Alb, and it has great weather; not too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer.
I live in Socorro and work in Magdalena. I also go to Carrizozo as I sell land out in that area. I think I have the best of both worlds. Carrizozo is going to be on the upswing pretty soon.

In what way will Carrizozo be on the upswing? It's on my list of possibilities to move to.

Default Carrizozo

There is a large development underway that has recently been annexed by the city. It will offer 3-4 acre lots for residential and some commercial buildings. Hopefully a grocery store. It's just the boost zozo will need for some new blood and new action. They are also greening up the forgotten city golf course.

I sell 20-140 acre size tracts at Windmill Ranches 22 miles north of zozo. I'm glad for the smaller size lots up for sale now in town as many folks will decide will want larger and will help with resales at the Windmill Ranch area.

I've never understood why zozo didn't amount to much other than what it is, as it has the traffic from Tx and Co coming thru all the time. Now maybe it will have more to offer.
