I am not a jazz expert per say, but it is my understanding that Albuquerque does in fact have a jazz scene. The music, shows, events (and of course medical) are reasons we are staying in this area after 12 years (My wife retires in less than 50 days). We have considered moving, but we like this area...
Poncho_NM: Thanks. I will be talking to the Musicians' Union Local 618 to see what I can find out from them. I hope to find a small jazz group in need of a fretless bassist.

Is this jazz? I just shot it two weeks ago in the ABQ area:
I'd say it was jazz. It was a lot like Mardi Gras. I like that sort of thing. I think traditional jazz ('Dixieland') is a lot of fun to play. Jazz takes in a lot of musical territory!

As I ponder my move to the Land of Enchantment in three weeks I reflect on quotes from N. Scott Momaday .......
""There is a great good in returning to a landscape that has had extraordinary meaning in one's life. It happens that we return to such places in our minds irresistibly. There are certain villages and towns, mountains and plains that, having seen them walked in them lived in them even for a day, we keep forever in the mind's eye. They become indispensable to our well-being; they define us, and we say, I am who I am because I have been there.
It is here that I can concentrate my mind upon the Remembered Earth. It is here that I am most conscious of being, here that wonder comes upon my blood, here I want to live forever; and it is no matter that I must die."

Santa Fe for now. Will be job hunting in both Santa Fe & Albuquerque so I'll end up in one of the two, I'd be content in either place. But for now I'm renting a short term place in Santa Fe.

Hey Thanks
Indeed, didn't take me long to fall in love with either place when visiting last year. They cast the spell on me, haven't been able to let it go since.
