The 5th of 6 seasons in NM has hit..the 6th has passed..MUD.
It is a real ....welll not good here where we live in NM...Fence Lake...gust up to 60 mph + I have a wind gauge..
has ripped the roof off the chicken house many many times no matter how hard i try to nail it, screw it, board it down...ripppppp......not as bad lately, since i have used different screws etc...but the trash pit gets blown all over like down the road a couple miles, and i haveto go and bag trash...

the pollen gets into the house..etc...its the pits.

but it's all about trade offs i guess.

sun in hair wears a mask outside..

but no mud and sun so be thankful.

happy dusty trails to you.

Or to the term earth tones. I was at opening day at Bonita Lake one year when it rained whitish mud and then snowed these things that were like styrofoam pellets. Weird. The fishing was good though, if you could get a cast in between gusts.

Typical spring snow pellets - something half way between snow and sleet. There is a name for that form of precip -

Graupel is both denser and more granular than ordinary snow, due to its rimed exterior. Macroscopically, graupel resembles small beads of polystyrene.

Thunderstorms around the Ruidoso area this afternoon with more in the forecast through next weekend. I'm risking keeping my computer on even though I hear thunder about. Not much precip yet at my house. But enough to wet the pavement.

Is it pretty dry over by you?
Have a generator? I do. I was without power for 8 hours recently and it wasn't even storming.

Dry enough that fires are already a problem in spite of the wettest winter in many years.

TODAY'S 30 ACRE FIRE

No generator, and seldom a problem with power outages. When an occasional outage does occur, it is normally very short lived.

That's something I've never heard of happening (story link)
Pretty windy again today in Sierra County. I'll bet the water windmills are getting a workout lately. Last year when I planted tomato plants, the wind and heat dried out the leaves and my plants eventually died. If I plant this year, I have to make some sort of a wind-break for them.
