Thing is that person's salary likely won't be raising.

rising costs are a fact of life . it is something we all have to deal with and plan for . i grew up pretty poor in a nyc housing project . my dad worked 2 jobs and my mom was so sickly she couldn't work . she had a massive heart attack giving birth to my sister and her heart was severely damaged . . there was nothing left to cut back on so increasing income was the only way to survive no matter what it took or the hours it consumed . .

when i first went out on my own i had 3 gigs going on for quite while so i could make ends meet . i was just motivated never to raise a family in the projects and not be poor

Hello dummy...you do realize that many rent stabilized apartments are already renting out at market rate?

Correct. Many Landlords charge less than what they legally could. The main protections are that they MUST renew your lease, etc. And if your neighborhood becomes very popular at least you know your rent can only go up to the legal maximum regulated rent and not more.

Shut up idiot. Apparently people *here* are paying BELOW market rent. Are you that sense not to understand that? Didn't talk about *everyone*. Just people on *this site*.

Everyone on this site with a rent stabilized apartment is paying below market rate ?
I'm not. There goes your argument.

Rent control is a nutso program for sure. As well as affordable housing lotteries.
I would guess that most who live in rent stabilized apartments in the outer boroughs are paying very near market or market rate. Where you'll find those paying well below market in RS apartments is in the borough of Manhattan. Even then it's most likely those who were in their apartment since the mid 2000's.

Don't worry homie, keep entering those lotteries. A place will come through someday. DiBlasio's got your back

You're *one* person. Big deal. You don't represent the majority here.

Am not sure what you're running your mouth about, but have never entered any lottery and have always paid market-rate prices.
