If you really want to be put on hold, you should do it before you get called. People have reported that their request was denied when they waited. You can always unfreeze at any time if you change your mind.

Macy, do you know if when you put your application on hold you have 5 years from the date of hold or the date you were selected for the lottery? For some reason this question came to my mind yesterday and I couldn't recall. I put my application on hold in 2020 but the lottery selection was 2019 so I'm curious if I have until 2024 or 2025 to come up with the down payment?

Trisky, I really don't know. I am assuming that it's from the date you went on hold. Otherwise, a whole lot of people would be coming off hold on the same day. I doubt the office would want to deal with that!

But to be sure you would have to email the office.

It's definitely five years from the date you put yourself on hold. Source: I'm on hold, and the date is the date I'm on hold + five years.

Thank you both! I thought it was the date on hold but then suddenly started questioning myself yesterday for some unknown reason!

Shadypines actually just made me go look in my email for my confirmation of the hold and they actually say in the letter you have 5 years from the date of the hold. I could have saved myself a lot of trouble by looking for that to start with!

You're on the studio list too? If you stay on hold, then you'll know they're close when they get to me. I guess that's what you were thinking. There are about 40 people ahead of me who are on hold.

I saw 4 apartments in July, 2019. I was next to last in line for 4 apartments at that point. I didn't hear anything after that, but then out of the blue in October, 2019, I got a call asking me if I wanted an apartment. I looked at the apartment again that day, and I went in the next day and got all the details. I closed a month later and was moved in by the end of November, 2019.
