Well my posts stuck a nerve. Like I said, beggars in these cases can’t be choosers. Either apply or don’t. Buy a home if you got it like that. You don’t have to get a luxury apartment through the lottery system so you’re doing so much better financially than supportive housing clients.
I have a few friends that own property. They’re not complaining about supportive housing or people they believe are beneath them on a message board forum. They went out there and made things happen, unlike the people who pay $2200 for shoebox sized studios cause they can’t afford what’s on the market and believe they’re better than people in supportive programs. That’s really the irony of it.
If you can afford it off the lottery, do it. But we all know you won’t.

Well said!

That is not what supportive housing is about. Supportive housing does not only deal with mentally ill people. This is how ill informed many of you are. This is also a symptom of what happens when you are ignorant to what social services does. Goodness!
No, I never said that supportive housing is all mental illness, but some of these groups will definitely be there. Think of supportive housing like a Venn diagram: There are some people who are really down and out and require only financial help and others who have substance abuse or mental health issues. Both of these groups may overlap and have the same needs while others may only have one need.
You clearly can’t afford to buy if you need affordable housing. They just need to be quiet and stop complaining or don’t apply at all. You don’t get to be a “beggar” and think you have any more right or say cause you throw several hundred dollars more at an overpriced apartment.
They need to come out of the bubble and get over themselves.
LMAO what?? You’ve constantly thrown around “beggars can’t be choosers” but as someone else mentioned here, a lot of people looking for affordable housing or applying to lotteries do get to choose and apply to their preferences. And if one’s preference is to not go through with a lottery that has supportive housing, why are you so mad? I don’t think a single person has made the argument that there should not be supportive housing or aid, just that their preference is to live with those earning similar or more.
If Lyra were to have a supportive housing floor, nobody here is going to go out and riot. That is what you’re making it seem. Those that don’t want to live there just simply … won’t.
People here are freaking out for no reason. This is a great lottery and whoever applied (I did) I wish them much success!
Right! the only thing I’m concerned about is the completion of the construction and if we will have to wait longer for log numbers to come out due to the fact that it’s not move in ready yet
It is a great deal for people in 70% and not the best for someone like me who's in 130% as a single household. Maybe I should find someone to date while applying for the lottery Wish there was 100-125%. Good luck everyone
