I really don't know what criteria Stuy Town is using regarding apartments that fit more than one lottery.

They must have some kind of plan, since they developed the rent ranges based on something, one would hope!

I sent them email if they have availability based on pricing they responded with
"Thank you for your interest in our Stuytown Affordable Housing. Please note that we accept up to 3 applications per listing by numerical preference, #1, 2, 3 and the monthly rent is listed for your consideration. Units are listed as they become available and we do not have a schedule based on pricing."

So not sure if and when the lower prices will become available. Good luck everyone who applied to these units so far and fingers crossed for myself as well.

The stuytown lottery is a very poorly run organization, not sure of by chance or by design. I was called by the 2021 lottery saying my log number was chosen for a 3BR but after I gave them all my financials they said I qualified but there wasn’t any inventory. They didn’t explain why they keep calling up new log numbers, telling them they “won†even though there aren’t apartments. This was over a year ago, still waiting…

It's so hard to apply even for these ~$3,400 1bd listings.

I'm 3rd in line for the second time apartment I applied for.
And I heard no news for the first one when I was also 3rd in line.

I know it is hard, and horrible way for the lottery to work. I literally never wake up before 8:30 and in past month i have been waking up every day before 7 am and checking the website each 3-5 minutes. It is not good for mental health! But what can we do!

A friend is applying, and she can't get through the phone. I gave her the office phone number, and she said it goes straight to voice mail.

I think they're doing it this way because in years past, when apartments that were kind of expensive were in the lottery, most people on the waiting list turned them down. So every year Stuy Town would have to do a new lottery for the 165% bracket, contact people one by one, only to run through thousands of names. I guess Stuy Town is trying out this Hunger Games method instead!

This method is so time consuming. Even if you successfully apply, if you get second or third in row there's no information you can rely on next.
