Nyc needs to stop being so utilitarian and start focusing on the aesthetics

All of the stations are scheduled to be redone. The problems is that they can only do a handful at a time and it will take decades to finish them all. The contruction work is painfully slow and extraordinarily expensive. We just don't have the money.

The problem is that most of the stations that are being redone still look like sht even after a complete reconstruction. Take a look at the redone stations at the B/Q line, they actually demolished the stations and rebuilt the stations from scratch... and left them the same.

It's by far the most epic construction fail I have EVER seen in my life.

Here check this out: before and after pics, keep in mind the station was demolished and built from scratch:

Before (you can see the other side of the station is completely demolished including the platform itself):

After (recent pic, the station was just opened last month):

Maybe you should move to the Bronx where there are nice, clean, modern stations.
There are many clean and maintained stations in The Bronx especially some of the elevated ones. But we have to be honest here, there are many stations that are outright atrocious. For example stations on the 6 line in South Bronx.

Until we have a city full of respectful residents and tourists we will never have anything nice. Notice the most garbage ridden areas are tourist areas.

I was just about to post the same thing.

I'll also add - The best stations are the main hubs in each borough. They're always clean and looks up to date. Well for the most part.

Jay Street - Borough Hall use to look like this. . .

These are what the columns look like now. On one side, so far. . .

And they changed the name to Jay Street - MetroTech (which is stupid - It'll always be Borough Hall to me)

Yes, many stations that are in poor condition are indeed in tourist areas. But little garbage here and there is completely acceptable in a city with over 8 million people.

But not all central and main stations are in good condition. "The Hub" station in South Bronx is in a sad state right now.
