I guess there had to be a bit of hoopla over the 10th anniversary but I sure hope it kind of fades away now.Maybe now we won't hear too much until the 25th anniversary.
That is unless Giuliani runs for something. Then we'll hear nothing but 9/11 this 9/11 that.
It never occurred to me to plan or do anything special this weekend.
I want to do nothing and try to forget what happened. No disrespect to anyone but it was very depressing living here in 2001 and I don't like to be reminded of what it was like.
It's bad enough I have to pass the WTC everyday on my way to work and see all the tourists gawking and taking pictures of themselves with a giant gap-toothed smile at a site where thousands of people lost their lives.
I'm going to go light 3 candles at my church for the ones I lost and then move on like they would have wanted. I'm going out to see my sister because she lives in a rural area where I can forget about everything.
I hear there is going to be something doing by the (former) St. Vincents hospital. As I live down the block from there, I think I'll check that out tomorrow. As far as today I would say my mood has been subdued.
I will try to avoid traffic jams and walk where I want to go. The made-up fear mongering every time an anniversary rolls around is getting tedious. After 10 years of "Achtung, are your papers in order?" the police state mentality is wearing thin.
Like several other posters I think it is time to give this a rest already.
