My precinct (well one of them) has seen a very large increase in homicides this year. It's up to 16 now, from just 9 last year. This is not good news, especially for a precinct which was known for it's high murder rate.
The Bronx in general has been off the charts. Last September there were 5 homicides for all of September...this year there was 15. In the past 28 days, there have been 17 homicides, while in the same period last year there were 3. Look at some off the numbers:
Not to mention that the 47th precinct already has 18 homicides this year. So you're probably going to end up with atleast 5 precincts with 16+ homicides. You'd have to go back to the bad old days to see something similar.

I haven't felt this worried in a long time.
It seems like that some precincts want to outdue each other in murders. Back in the old days places like Universitry Heights and mott haven had liek 70-90 muders a year. The bad old days are long gone my friend, however its still locked in our memories and still holds some fear and nostalga. All you can do is the remain vigilant and dont hang around the wrong crowd and even some time to be a little prejudgeable. A guy was telling me when you see a group of blacks fighting dont watch run or walk away because there is a good chance one of those black guys has a gun that be got from Grandmas house in South Carolina. Living in Mott Haven I have seen a few of these this past year with groups of blacks fighting and one in the party has a gun. Not being being rascist but this is what I have seen recently.
So four cops blame the increase in shootings on Wall St protestors?! Does anyone think that's a legit reason or they're just using that as an excuse? From what I've seen of the protest, the people haven't done much to warrant much police attention so...
"Four high-ranking cops point the finger at Occupy Wall Street protesters,
saying their rallies pull special crime-fighting units away from the hot zones where they’re needed."
what a bull.... Why do special crime-fighting units need to go to Occupy Wall Street?
