The cops are not too scared of patrolling anywhere..who told you that? Some areas are more challenging than others and require certain caliber of police, but too scared to patrol? If this were Brazil, Somalia, or the Phillipines, or lots of other places, then I would agree with you...but NYC in 2011 no less? Gimme a break.

Cops do this not because they are "too scared of anything" but because they are either corrupt, incompetent, poorly trained/managed, lazy/don't care, or some combination of the above.

In Rio, there is a special task force called BOPE that handles the druglords in the favelas. They use ruthless measures too.

Some cops are afraid of retaliation during off-duty life + what you stated, "corrupt, incompetent, poorly trained/managed, lazy/don't care, or some combination of the above."

Had it coming. IMO, once you leap behind the counter and invade their space, you've earned yourself a tune-up.

I would have expected more people to have condemned the cashier for his violent behavior. But I think many are too fed up with hood people acting like this. You can imagine what someone working at McDonald's has to deal with on a daily basis and ends up erupting in this manner. I'm seeing more support for him, even thought the cashier himself is a murderer.

I just saw this on the news. Surprised it happened in Greenwich Moderator cut: Generalizations of other boroughs are not necessary.

Last edited by bmwguydc; 10-14-2011 at 09:43 PM.. Reason: Generalizations of other boroughs not involved in this incident are not necessary

Dude definitely appears to have some anger management issues -- he should have stopped pretty well before he did and he looks to be in legal hot water because he didn't. Legal formalities aside... on a human level I can't say I really blame him. Maybe customers would stop treating low-level service workers like feudal serfs if they got put in their place a little more often.

Naaaaaa.
This isn't right at all.

That guy NEEDS to get locked up.
Those were girls---he could have ended the problem a lot easier than cracking their heads open with a metal rod.

What a tough guy.
